What we collect
We collect: your email address when you create an account, subscribe to updates, or request a service; the content of report, contact and counsel requests you submit; and payment information, which is processed and stored by Stripe—we never see your card details. If you answer an on-page task-success question, we store the fixed answer, page, optional short comment and selected journey, but no email address.
Analytics and cookies
Essential first-party cookies keep you signed in and remember security-related state and your selected decision journey. LicenceMap records aggregate page requests in its own database; without analytics consent they carry no persistent visitor identifier. If you accept analytics cookies, a random first-party session identifier allows LicenceMap to measure journeys and first-touch attribution (source, medium, campaign, landing path and referrer hostname—never the full referrer URL or search query), and we also use Google Analytics 4 to understand page visits and movement through the site. Google Analytics may set first-party identifiers and sends usage information to Google as our analytics processor. The Google tag is not loaded at all if you decline or have not yet chosen. We disable advertising storage, Google Signals and ad-personalisation features, and do not use analytics data for advertising. Declining does not change how the site works.
Product and experiment measurement
For signed-in accounts, LicenceMap records at most one row per UTC day and broad product surface (for example research, comparison, monitoring or team workspace). It does not create a detailed account clickstream. This lets us calculate whether the service creates durable value and honest D7/D30 return rates. Controlled product experiments enrol only consented random session identifiers; the assignment contains no name or email and is used to compare declared outcome and guardrail metrics.
How we use your data
To provide the service, process payments, deliver reports, improve task completion, send sign-in links, and, where you have opted in, send regulatory-change updates. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe option. We do not sell your data. For an independent counsel recommendation, the named shortlist is delivered to you and a limited courtesy notice may tell recommended counsel that your enquiry may be coming; the service states exactly what happens before submission. For a consented direct or routed introduction, we share the details needed to effect the introduction you requested.
Retention and rights
We keep account data while your account is active and lead data until you unsubscribe. Fine-grained event rows are pruned after 180 days; account-activity cohorts and task-success feedback are retained for no more than the measurement periods needed to compare annual trends, then pruned. You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing hello@licencemap.com.
Processors
We use Stripe (payments), an email delivery provider (transactional and update emails), and—only after analytics consent—Google Analytics (website usage measurement). They act as processors under our instructions.
